Colour palette

Every value on this page is read live from styles/tokens.css, and the imagery colours are sampled from the actual render files at load. Nothing here is transcribed by hand, so it cannot drift from the site. Click any swatch to copy its hex.

01

Core

The four that define the brand. Navy is sampled from the real logo file, not approximated. Bone is a warm off-white — using pure white as the page background loses the whole character.

02

Support

Same system, secondary duty. None of these is a second accent colour.

The one hard rule

Volt is join actions only

Never headings, never icons, never borders, never hover states, never inside an image. It is the only saturated colour in the system, and the entire page is built so the eye lands on the one lime shape — and that shape always means “join”. Put it on a headline in an ad and every call to action on the site loses its meaning.

Ratio of Volt to everything else is roughly 1 : 50. On the website it is a single button. An ad with a lime background is not this brand.

03

Imagery

Not in the token file, but half the brand’s visual weight. These are sampled from the live render files in assets/ when this page loads — replace a render and these swatches change with it.

04

Pairings

WCAG contrast, computed in the browser right now. 4.5:1 is the floor for body text, 3:1 for large display type. Hatched cells fail both — do not ship them.

Why the site never puts white type straight on sky: it does not pass. Every text block over a photograph sits inside a glass card with its own fill, over a navy scrim. Reproduce that structure in an ad, or use Navy type instead of white.

05

Print

Volt is outside CMYK gamut

Four-colour process renders it a flat, disappointing yellow-green and the point is lost. Budget a spot or fluorescent ink and have the printer match to the RGB value. Do not accept a process build.

Navy goes muddy on uncoated

It prints fine in CMYK but sits lighter than screen on uncoated stock. Ask for a rich black build underneath it, or accept the shift.

Bone should be paper, not ink

Printing a flat off-white panel across a sheet costs coverage and never matches screen. Choose the stock instead wherever the job allows.
